Rhenus Midi Data Introduces Its Expertise in High-Tech Logistics to the Rhenus Group
Rhenus has expanded its range of services as a result of the takeover of the continental European activities of the Wincanton Group: Wincanton’s former high-tech division has been operating under the name Rhenus Midi Data GmbH since January this year. Michael Boos and Thomas Gerling manage the company, which has been established within the Rhenus Contract Logistics business area. Rhenus Midi Data brings together the technical distribution and installation services of the former Wincanton business division in one self-contained company.
“As a result of acquiring the European activities of the Wincanton Group, we have created a broader base for ourselves both regionally and in a specific product market and have been able to expand our existing business. Rhenus Midi Data is a clear example of this growth process. It reinforces our existing special networks within Contract Logistics with another component: high-tech logistics,” stresses Dr. Stephan Peters, a Member of the Rhenus Board.
Rhenus Midi Data uses its own network to ensure that high-tech products are distributed across Europe on time for renowned customers from the banking and IT, medical engineering and the printing and copying sectors. The logistics services provider also offers extensive technical value added services – including preassembly and pre-installation work – before delivering, assembling and installing the sensitive products. The company can look back on a long-standing tradition: Midi Data GmbH was founded in 1967 and was one of the pioneers in this sector. What is now Rhenus Midi Data has adopted a market-leading position at the present time.
“We share a deeply rooted understanding about what it means to develop and complete customised solutions with Rhenus, an established player in the market place,” says Michael Boos, Managing Director of Rhenus Midi Data. “We are planning to further expand our business together with Rhenus and believe that consistency is one of our strengths. We have worked very closely with many of our customers for a long time. Like Rhenus, we place great importance on continually promoting and developing our employees’ abilities overall. Both our project managers and our trained specialist transport staff have acquired the necessary knowledge of products in the course of time in order to complete the complex transport and installation services for our customers.”
