Rhenus in Bingen Receives IFS Logistics Certificate
The Rhenus branch in Bingen received the International Food Standard Logistics (IFS Logistics) certificate from TÜV NORD (Technical Inspection Agency North) at the beginning of the year. The IFS Logistics standard is designed to guarantee transparency along the complete supply chain based a unified assessment system that is internationally valid. Rhenus in Bingen met the requirements for the incoming goods, warehousing, picking and outgoing goods departments for wine, sparkling wine and spirits at a “high level.”
In addition to meeting the requirements in the ISO 9001 quality management program, the checklist for the IFS audit includes almost 100 checking points, including risk and hygiene management based on the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), combating pests, compliance, traceability and maintenance. Following a successful audit procedure, compliance is monitored by an accredited certification body every year.
“Our customers in the sparkling wine and spirits sector place great importance on end-to-end process reliability. The IFS Logistics certification confirms our high quality standards when storing consumer goods at our Bingen branch and reinforces our customers’ confidence in us,” says Bernd Markmann, a member of the Rhenus Contract Logistics management team.
Rhenus takes responsibility for 42,500 square meters of covered warehouse space for customers from the consumer goods industry and the lifestyle sector at its Bingen I multi-user warehouse. Construction work is currently taking place to expand the warehouse shed. Other companies within the Rhenus Group are also due to be certified according to IFS Logistics in future, including Rhenus Schon GmbH & Co. KG, which specializes in shipping wine in tanks or other containers.
